Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 23, 2026

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how The Laborers Training and Re-training Trust Fund of Southern California, doing business as the Laborers Training School ("LTS," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information.

It applies to information collected through www.laborerstrainingschool.com, our online forms, our text message (SMS) and email communications, and our related online services (together, the "Services"). It does not apply to third-party sites we link to, which have their own policies.

Our contact details:

  • 1385 W. Sierra Madre Avenue, Azusa, CA 91702
  • Phone: (626) 610-1700 · Toll free: (877) 445-2094
  • Email: digital@laborerstrainingschool.com

By using the Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service also apply.

2. Information we collect and how we use it

We collect only what we need to run our training and apprenticeship programs and to communicate with you about them.

  • Contact information (name, mobile and other phone numbers, email, mailing address), which you provide through forms, by phone, or in person. We use it to respond to you, process applications, and send the messages you requested.
  • Applicant and apprentice records (date of birth, Local Union, craft, class enrollment, attendance, training hours, certifications), from you, your Local Union, signatory employers, and our instructors. We use them to administer apprenticeship and training programs and meet program reporting duties.
  • Equal-opportunity data (race, ethnicity, sex, disability status, veteran status), only if you choose to provide it. It is used for required reporting under 29 CFR Parts 29 and 30 and never in selection decisions.
  • Communication records (messages you send us, SMS and email delivery status, opt-in and opt-out records), used to deliver messages, honor opt-outs, and keep consent records.
  • Device and usage data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring site), collected through cookies and similar technologies (Section 5) to operate, secure, and improve the website.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Text messaging (SMS) and mobile information

If you give us your mobile number and check the SMS consent box on one of our forms, you agree to receive text messages from the Laborers Training School. These messages are informational and transactional, for example: application status updates, orientation and class reminders, schedule changes, campus notices, document requests, and replies to questions you send us.

  • Consent is optional. You do not have to agree to texts to apply, enroll, or receive any service from us.
  • Frequency varies based on your application or enrollment activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • To opt out, reply STOP to any message. You will receive one confirmation and no further texts. You may also opt out by contacting us using the details in Section 1.
  • For help, reply HELP or call (626) 610-1700.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors that support our messaging services, such as our messaging platform and telecommunications carriers, is permitted only to deliver the messages. All other categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

See the SMS Messaging Terms in our Terms of Service for full details.

4. Email communications

We send email mainly to deliver transactional and relationship messages related to your application, enrollment, classes, or requests. Examples include confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and account or document notices.

If we send occasional newsletters or event announcements, each will include a working unsubscribe link and our mailing address. Unsubscribing from those does not stop required transactional messages about your application or training. Email delivery data (such as delivered, opened, or bounced) is used to keep our lists accurate and our messages deliverable.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to operate and secure the website. With your permission, we also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used, and pages with embedded videos (such as YouTube) may set cookies from that provider.

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. We treat a browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a rejection of non-essential cookies. Our site does not otherwise respond to "Do Not Track" signals.

6. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed to run our programs, and never for third-party marketing:

  • Program partners: your LIUNA Local Union, signatory employers (for dispatch and on-the-job training), and the LIUNA Training and Education Fund.
  • Government agencies: the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards, the U.S. Department of Labor, and other agencies as required for registered apprenticeship reporting.
  • Service providers that process data for us under contract, such as our website host, our communications platform (used to send email and SMS), our learning management system, and IT support. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of students, staff, or others.

The SMS restrictions in Section 3 apply on top of this list.

7. Retention and security

We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by apprenticeship record-keeping rules. SMS and email consent records are kept for at least four years after your last message. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls and encrypted connections, but no system is completely secure.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Reply STOP to texts or use the unsubscribe link in non-transactional emails.
  • Ask to see, correct, or delete your information by contacting us (Section 1). Some records must be kept by law or program rules.
  • Change cookie preferences at any time through Cookie Settings.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these choices. California residents may also contact us with questions about our practices under California law.

9. Children

The Services are intended for adults. Apprenticeship applicants must meet minimum age requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we send text messages only to people 18 or older.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and material changes affecting SMS or email will be communicated as required by law. Questions: write to us at the address in Section 1, call (626) 610-1700, or email digital@laborerstrainingschool.com.
